Quelle différence avec un lit escamotable horizontal ?
Sur ces modèles verticaux, le couchage se replie dans le sens de la hauteur, tête vers le plafond et pieds vers le sol une fois ouvert. Cette orientation demande moins de largeur au mur et libère davantage de place sur les côtés, ce qui convient bien aux petites chambres ou aux bureaux étroits. La version horizontale, elle, se replie sur la longueur et reste plus adaptée aux pièces basses de plafond ou aux couchages d'appoint placés sous une fenêtre.
Le matelas reste-t-il en place quand on referme ces lits ?
Oui, c'est tout l'intérêt de ces armoires-lits. Des sangles maintiennent le matelas plaqué contre le sommier pendant la fermeture, vous n'avez donc rien à ranger chaque matin. Vous rabattez le couchage à la verticale et la chambre redevient une pièce de vie en quelques secondes.
Quelle épaisseur de matelas peut-on mettre sur ces couchages verticaux ?
La plupart de ces lits acceptent un matelas d'environ 25 cm d'épaisseur, parfois un peu plus selon le mécanisme. C'est suffisant pour un vrai confort de nuit, y compris en usage quotidien, contrairement aux matelas fins réservés à l'appoint. Comment se manœuvrent ces lits escamotables au quotidien ?
Le couchage est équilibré par des vérins ou un système de ressorts qui accompagnent le mouvement. On tire la façade vers soi et le lit descend en douceur, sans effort de portage, puis il remonte aussi facilement. Une personne seule peut donc ouvrir et refermer le couchage tous les jours sans difficulté.
Ces lits verticaux se fixent-ils obligatoirement au mur ?
Cela dépend des modèles de la sélection. Beaucoup se fixent au mur pour plus de stabilité, d'autres sont autoporteurs et tiennent par leur propre structure, ce qui est pratique si vous louez ou si la cloison ne permet pas de percer. Combien de place gagne-t-on vraiment avec ces armoires-lits ?
Une fois replié, le couchage ne dépasse que d'une quarantaine de centimètres du mur, l'épaisseur du caisson. Vous récupérez ainsi toute la surface au sol d'un lit classique, soit deux à trois mètres carrés selon la taille. Trouve-t-on ces lits verticaux en une et en deux places ?
