What distinguishes a designer Murphy bed from classic models?
On this selection, the work focuses as much on aesthetics as on mechanism. Do these designer Murphy beds still have an easy-to-operate mechanism?
Yes, the attention to style does not come at the expense of usability. These models rely on assisted cylinders that guide the descent and ascent of the bed base, so often only one hand is needed. The movement remains fluid for daily use, which is important when opening and closing the bed every day.
Does the mattress stay in place when these beds are closed?
This is the very principle of these beds. A strap holds the mattress against the bed base, so you don't have to move or store anything elsewhere. The whole thing folds down in a few seconds, including the bedding, and the designer front takes its place as a closed piece of furniture.
Can the mattress thickness be chosen for these designer Murphy beds?
The thickness depends on the space provided in the cabinet, usually around 25 cm to remain comfortable while folding correctly. For daily use, it's better to aim for a mattress with good foam density rather than the thinnest possible. It's better to have a mattress adapted for a wall bed. Contact us for more information.
Are these models available in vertical and horizontal versions?
Our selection covers both opening types. The vertical version folds upwards and is well suited when there's a lack of floor width, for example, in a narrow spare room. The horizontal opening, which folds to the side, is interesting under a mezzanine or a low ceiling where available height is limited.
How much floor space is saved with these beds when folded?
When folded, the cabinet often only protrudes 35 to 45 cm from the wall, almost entirely freeing up floor space. A guest room can thus become an office or living room during the day, then revert to a real bed in the evening. It's this space-saving aspect that motivates most of our clients.

Both solutions are available in the range. Wall mounting ensures the best stability and is essential for large sizes.
