We won't hide it from you, choosing your mattress is a real headache. What material, what comfort, what density to choose, for what budget? But it is also an important purchase, which will determine your sleep, and therefore part of your health and your good mood for the ten or fifteen years to come!
A little practical guide to help you see things more clearly, and to choose the right mattress in five tips:
-
Latex, foam or springs?
Which core should you choose for your mattress? We are talking here about the main component of your mattress, its heart: latex, foam or springs. This core is surrounded by a filling, which varies depending on the manufacturer, and which can also vary depending on the side of the mattress (summer/winter) for more or less warmth. Here, it's all a question of taste and personal choice.
Generally speaking, spring mattresses are recommended for people who tend to sweat profusely. They are actually better ventilated than the others, and are therefore cooler. They generally provide good support and have a good lifespan.
Latex mattresses generally offer a firm or even very firm sleep. These are the ones that sag the least over time. Foam mattresses are suitable for people looking for enveloping and soft comfort.

Test your mattress!
Essential step in purchasing a mattress , if you want to be sure not to make a mistake. Go to the store , and take your time (without being afraid of ridicule!): press on the mattress, sit on it, then, above all, lie down. Close your eyes, feel free to turn around, lie on your back, side, etc.
A good test: lean on one elbow, if it sinks too much, the mattress is not firm enough. On the contrary, when you are lying on your back, if there is a space between your lower back and the mattress, it is too firm.

See broad
Especially if you sleep together! In fact, remember to take a mattress that is wide enough, so as not to disturb the other person while they sleep. It seems that we move on average 40 times per night, or 80 chances of being woken up each night when we sleep as a couple! Everyone must therefore have sufficient space. This also applies to the length of the mattress: ideally allow 20 cm more than your height.

Think about allergies !
Many mattresses are now treated with anti-mold, anti-mite and anti-bacterial treatment. When purchasing, find out which model you are choosing. Treatment is a good thing, but you also need to think about simple actions to avoid any allergenic problems. Ventilating the room daily, changing the sheets regularly, vacuuming the mattress are basic reflexes to acquire.
