Regular maintenance:
A simple cloth or damp sponge, soaked in a little detergent, will be your best allies. We dust the chair from edge to edge or from seam to seam. Quite simply. And we avoid rubbing too much, this damages the leather . Just as we should always avoid overly moistening leather. Leathers require a lot of delicacy!
To clean smooth leathers, you can use a beaten egg white, or the recipe for hot (but not boiling) sour beer. To do this, pour beer into an open container and leave it for several days near a heat source. Then, gently rub your sofa with a cloth soaked in this beer.
Please note : In any case, if you notice that the color of the leather is on the cloth, stop cleaning immediately!

Maintaining a leather sofa in case of stains:
- Sugary food stains : Remove by passing over a cloth soaked in a water/alcohol mixture (9/10th water and the rest alcohol).
- Alcoholic beverage, coffee and tea stains : Start by blotting as much as possible with absorbent paper. Then we use a cloth and a mixture of half water and half alcohol.
- For milk stains : Use 28% ammonia water on a cloth with which you gently rub the stained area.
- Candle and shoe polish stains : First, gently scrape off the wax or shoe polish with a wooden spatula or spoon. Then you dab the stained area with mineral spirits.
- Ink and ballpoint pen stain : Apply a cotton swab soaked in a mixture of one quarter water and three quarters alcohol to the pen or ink mark.
- Recent greasy stains : These stains are removed by first sprinkling them with talc or Sommières earth. Leave it on for several hours, then brush. We start again if necessary.
- Water-based paint stains : You just need soapy water.
- Solvent paint stains : For these, use turpentine.
- Sebum stains: usually left on the top of the backrests and sometimes on the armrests. We act exactly as for grease stains, with talc or Sommières earth.
- Most non-greasy stains on smooth leather are removed by gently rubbing with a damp cloth.
