How does the lift assist feature work on these lift chairs?

The motorized mechanism gradually tilts the seat forward and upward to assist the person into a standing position, without strain on the knees or back. The ascent is controlled by a finger on a wired remote control, and the movement remains slow and continuous to be reassuring. It is this function that distinguishes our lift chair models from classic recliners.

Are these chairs motorized or manually operated?

In this selection, the lift function requires electric motorization: one or two motors manage both the backrest recline, the leg rest, and the lift assist tilt. You plug the chair into an outlet and everything is controlled by the remote. Two-motor models offer independent adjustment of the backrest and footrest, allowing for a truly customized position.

What positions can these lift chairs achieve?

Beyond assisting with standing, they transition from an upright sitting position to a relaxed position where the legs are raised and the backrest reclines, up to a near-lying position suitable for napping on two-motor models. Most also offer a "zero-gravity" recline, with legs at heart level, which is appreciated for relieving circulation. You maintain control over each step with the remote control.

Are these chairs suitable for an elderly person or someone with reduced mobility?

This is precisely their primary purpose. The elevating seat reduces the effort needed to stand up and limits the risk of falling when transitioning to a standing position. For lasting comfort, consider the seat height, which should match the person's size, and the firmness of the foam—neither too soft to sink into nor too hard. Our in-store advisors help verify this by actually sitting in the chair.

What upholstery options do you offer for these lift chairs?

You'll primarily find soft and breathable fabrics, easy-to-clean microfibers, and simple-to-maintain leather-look coverings that can be wiped with a sponge. Some colors are visible on the website, but the full range of fabrics and shades can be discovered in store or by phone, where you can see and touch the materials. For daily and prolonged use, microfiber retains its appearance well over time.

What dimensions should I consider for installing these chairs at home?

Typically, allow between 75 and 90 cm in width depending on the model, but the key point to anticipate is the recline of the backrest and the extension of the leg rest once the chair is unfolded. It's best to leave about twenty centimeters behind the backrest for full recline. Detailed dimensions are listed on each product sheet, and our stores can help you ensure the chair fits into your room.

What happens in case of a power outage with these electric chairs?

Many of our motorized models include a backup battery that allows the chair to be returned to a sitting position even without power, until power is restored. This is an important safety feature for someone living alone. If this criterion is important to you, please inform our advisors: they will guide you to models equipped with this function.

Are these lift chairs delivered assembled?

Yes, they arrive ready to use with our premium home delivery, in the room of your choice. You don't have to carry or assemble anything, which is a significant advantage when the chair is intended for an elderly person. You simply need to plug it in to test the positions. Payment in installments is possible if you wish to spread out the payment.

What is an electric lift chair?

The electric lift chair is part of the relaxation chair family. It combines the comfort and ergonomics of a classic relaxation chair with the ease of sitting down and standing up thanks to the lift function, which will raise you. The lift function is activated using a remote control; the chair can fully ascend, helping you to settle in and returning you to a sitting position without straining your legs or back. Several adjustment options are available depending on the number of motors chosen. Choose autonomy, ease, and relaxation for your home! Choose a lift chair!

The Lift Function

Activatable from the remote control, the lift function will allow you to stand up or sit down with great ease. You will gain great autonomy while reducing the risk of falls when sitting down or standing up. In fact, the chair will fully straighten up until it brings you almost to an upright position, so you will no longer have to make a big effort to stand up. Thanks to the many sitting positions offered by the chair, you are sure to find your ideal position. These adjustments also help to improve vascularization, especially of the lower limbs.

This type of chair is perfect for prolonged sitting. Some lift chairs will be made of memory foam, which will limit the risk of pressure sore formation. This foam will fully adapt to your body shape and offer you a very pleasant feeling of weightlessness. Thanks to this, your body will not experience pressure points and will therefore be less likely to suffer the consequences of prolonged sitting. Do not hesitate to contact us for more information on our products and possible adaptations.

The Relaxation Function

The backrest and footrest adjustments allow you to set them in an optimal comfort position. Depending on the chosen chair, these adjustments may be independent. If there is only one motor, the backrest and footrest will move simultaneously. If there are several motors (there can be up to 4 for total adaptability), the backrest and footrest will be independent and will each adjust precisely. If you choose a 180° chair, it means you can adjust the inclination of its sections until you are lying down. You will then have a chair with infinite adjustments, from the sitting position to the horizontal position. All these adjustments will be made simply using the very practical and easy-to-use integrated electric remote control.

The Mechanism

A lift chair can offer 3 modes, electrically controlled via the remote control and without limit:

Rest Mode:

Reclined position with a full backrest recline. The footrest is raised to horizontal. This function is not available on all relaxation chairs;

Relaxation Mode:

The backrest is partially reclined, as you wish. The footrest is raised, also to the angle you choose;

Lift Mode:

Negative inclination of the chair allowing you to sit down or stand up easily thanks to its nearly vertical position (backrest, seat, and footrest included).

The electric relaxation chair is composed of: A removable enveloping backrest providing significant lumbar support. It can be lowered or raised with a remote control, or by body pressure; A removable leg rest. It moves thanks to the remote control and activates independently of the backrest if there are several motors; Most of the time, 2 24-volt motors (it can range from 1 – in which case the adjustments are simultaneous – to 4); An easy-to-use remote control.

Anatomy of the Lift Chair

Some specific features

When choosing your recliner-lift chair, you should pay attention to its dimensions. We advise you to choose a chair whose dimensions are adapted to your size. Indeed, chairs have different widths and heights; the taller you are, the more we advise you to choose a high chair so that the lifting can be done in the best conditions. It is also important to consider the space needed around the chair itself so that it can fully deploy. It is generally considered that about sixty centimeters behind the chair are needed so that it is not blocked when you decide to lower the backrest.

There are also "wall-hugger" chairs whose deployment is less significant and therefore easier to integrate into a living room. If you suffer from back pain, the heating and massaging options will be ideal. By heating your chair for a few minutes, your back pain will be reduced. The massage will help you relax and, again, reduce your pain. It is generally done with two massage heads that will move up and down your spine. For the chair's upholstery, it is preferable to choose a good quality foam with a rather high density. If the foam is of good quality, it will regain its shape once you leave the chair, whereas if it is of average quality, it may sag to your contours and the comfort will quickly decrease.

People concerned by the lift chair

The lift chair has been designed for all categories of people, young or old, seeking comfort and well-being.

Alain "... I am 58 years old, I am a business owner, I have always been stressed in my work, with the multiple problems in my company. For my last birthday, my wife gave me a lift chair. I enjoy the comfort and well-being; after every important meeting, I ask my secretary not to let anyone in, and I take advantage of the 180° recline for 10 minutes to lie down and de-stress. The lift function makes me forget my knee problem; I get up and sit down without any effort...".

Aurélie "... I am a medical student, I spend hours in my room studying. A month ago, my parents bought me this relaxing lift chair, and since then, no more back pain...".

Daniel "... I am 43 years old, I am a lawyer, I am 1m67 tall. As I am short, I had difficulty sitting and working comfortably in front of my hundreds of files. A friend advised me to get a lift chair. Since then, I have been sitting in my semi-raised chair for hours, enjoying excellent comfort...".

The lift chair mainly targets people with reduced mobility, who lack autonomy and have difficulty standing up or sitting down, or who fear falling. Thanks to the assistance of movement, this type of chair is reassuring for all these people. This chair also targets people who work in offices in front of their files or screens for very long hours of sitting: It provides them with maximum comfort and avoids any risk of back pain. By taking breaks, some people take advantage of the 180° recline function which allows them to lie down completely.

At the end of the day, the "lift" function helps them to stand up without any effort. The lift chair is also a relaxation chair. The relaxing function of the product will provide comfort and relaxation. Indeed, lift chairs are also relaxation chairs on which it is possible to adjust the backrest and footrest. These adjustments are made using a very simple remote control. On some models, you will have a 180° recline that will fully recline you. These very precise adjustments are perfect for long periods of sitting; they reduce the risk of pressure sores and improve blood circulation as you can change your position and therefore move.
