This is a common question, as leather has a reputation for being cold in winter and sticky in summer. In reality, good quality leather quickly adapts to body temperature and becomes comfortable after a few minutes. Models with generous seat padding further reduce this sensation. If you live in a room very exposed to the sun, it is better to avoid placing the sofa in direct sunlight to preserve the suppleness of the material.

Regular dusting with a soft dry cloth is usually sufficient, supplemented by an occasional wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Once or twice a year, a nourishing milk suitable for the type of leather helps maintain suppleness and prevent cracking. Avoid common household products, alcohol, and perfumed wipes, which dry out the covering. For unprotected aniline leathers, greater caution is advised as they absorb liquids more readily.

Leather has the advantage of not retaining dust or pet hair, which simplifies cleaning with a cat or dog. Very supple natural leathers remain superb but mark more easily. Animal scratches, however, require vigilance, as no leather is totally impervious to them.
